Preaching the Gospel since 1851
Bethel Baptist Church was organized under Pastor George Hanna in 1851. Throughout our history, our church has had many pastors. Dr. Doug Cassel became the pastor in May of 2004 and is the longest serving pastor in Bethel’s long history. At Bethel Baptist Church, we make no apology for being an old-fashioned, Independent, Fundamental, Baptist Church that still believes in “Walking in the Old Paths.”
We still believe in the pre-millennial rapture of the church. Our Bible is still the King James Bible, and it is our soul authority for faith and practice. Our music is still conservative and not contemporary. We still believe in Biblical separation both personally and ecclesiastically. We are still a door to door soul-winning church, and we support more than 75 missionaries all over this world. We are a family-oriented church, and we have something for everybody.
Ministries of Bethel Baptist Church
We still follow the Biblical command of Jesus to… “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15. Every week, we have men’s soulwinning on Tuesday nights at 6:00. We are located in a very rural area, and we regularly go to twelve different towns in two different counties. We also strive to visit the rural homes on the state highways and county roads.
Concerned about visiting a service because you have young children? No need to worry, we have a nursery for babies and toddlers that is provided during every service. Faithful ladies of our church make sure that the nursery is well-staffed and well taken care of.
We have Sunday school at 9:30 AM for all ages. Our classes include: Primaries, Juniors, Grade-school, Teens, College & Career, Young Couples, Senior Saints. We also have Jr. Church for kindergarten - 6th grade during the morning service.
Every 5th Sunday we have a service in the local nursing home. The residents enjoy seeing members of the church come out to visit them. Also, they love being able to sing the old hymns of the faith as well as hearing a Bible-based message preached by one of our faithful men.
Don’t have a ride to church? No problem! We run a bus route in the Linton area every Sunday morning. If you are in need of transportation, get in touch with us at (812) 847-7222 and leave a message for Assistant Pastor: Cameron Weage.
WYTJ radio has been broadcasting since July of 2003. We broadcast on 89.3 FM in Linton, 88.1 FM in Vincennes, on the web at wytjradio.com, and on our mobile apps for Apple and Android. WYTJ plays conservative Christ-honoring music and solid, fundamental Bible preaching. You will hear yesterday’s voices, today’s voices, and our own local voices each day on WYTJ.
Men from Bethel Baptist Church preach every week in the Greene County Jail. We have seen many souls saved through the jail ministry and we have several families who have joined our church as a direct result of this outreach.
We provide Master’s Club for 3 year olds through the 6th grade on Wednesday Evenings. Master’s Club meets in the church gymnasium during the same time as the regular Wednesday Evening service in the auditorium.
